Our friend Katie's latest CNN.com blog post is about the sale of the original (i.e. real) Amityville Horror house. It actually looks quite pleasant.
As an exercise:
Describe your main character's home. Is it an apartment, a house, a castle? Something different? How long have they lived there? Why did they move there? Would they ever consider leaving? Does the outside of the home match what's going on inside?

Horror House

An unusually large,20 room house, built in 1789 was unsealed from the courthouse marshall 4 years ago, in just enough time for the double wedding.
The entrance to the 23 gardens in the 14 acre yard, were met that day with a clap of thunder, hot august rain and the starch of ironed wedding attire arriving on familiar fanning of faces, in horse and carriage, littering the front lawn in the stains of their curiosity about th eunsolved murder
No one knew yet, there were two skeletons in the old war tunnels, under the lavish house, near the wine cellar, soon to be re-visited. A day of quests,preparations of flowers in the midst of deaths'cold remains awaits all,who enter here.
